Description
7 and 8 Llwybr Main in Llandygai are a pair of single-storey cottages originally built for quarry workers. Each cottage has a two-room layout with a loft and is oriented from northwest to southeast. The exterior features roughly coursed and dressed rubblestone blocks that are rendered and painted on the gable ends, topped with a slate roof.
Each cottage has two-light windows with slate sills on either side of a slightly offset entrance. They have integral end stacks and a shared ridge stack located in the center between the two cottages. There are additional windows on the gable ends that light the lofts, as well as catslide lean-tos at the rear.
The front of the cottages has two-light windows next to a 20th-century half-glazed door. There are also 20th-century plastic windows flanking a similar window that has been inserted into the infill of the original doorway, and a 20th-century rooflight to the right. A very large 20th-century extension has been added to the rear. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
