Description

These are a pair of quarryman’s cottages, dating to the 18th century, aligned north-west to south-east. They are each of a single-storey, two-room plan with a loft space. The cottages were built using roughly coursed and dressed rubblestone blocks, with gable ends rendered and painted. They have slate roofs. Each cottage features two-light windows with slate cills, positioned either side of a slightly offset entrance. There are integral end stacks to each cottage, along with a shared ridge stack located centrally between them. Gable end windows provide light to the lofts, and catslide lean-tos extend from the rear. The front of the cottages now has two-light windows flanking a 20th-century, half-glazed door. A large 20th-century extension has been added to the rear. The interior was not inspected. They belong to a group of two similar cottages.
