Description
Nos 1 and 2 Ddol Cottages in Abergwyngregyn are a symmetrical pair of single-storey cottages, each with two rooms and lofts. They are built from irregularly coursed rubblestone, featuring buttered pointing on the sides and rear, while the front elevation has more tightly-jointed snecked rubblestone and voussoirs above slightly cambered door and window heads. The cottages have a slate roof with overhanging verges and carved ends on the purlins.
Each cottage has a central entrance with an original bracketed gabled hood, flanked by 2-light 12-paned windows with slate cills. Similar windows are found in the gable ends, providing light to the lofts. There are integral brick stacks at each end and a larger shared ridge stack in the center, all topped with stepped capping.
No. 1 features two prominent 20th-century gabled dormers on the front roof slope and a half-glazed four-panel door with margin lights. The rear of the cottage has modern windows. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
