Description
Hafan and No. 1, Tyn Ion, Llandygai, are a pair of estate cottages dating from the 19th century. Each cottage is a single-storey structure with a two-room layout and a loft, oriented east-west. The cottages are built of regularly coursed and dressed rubblestone blocks, with the left gable end rendered and the right gable end slate-hung. They feature a slate roof with purple and brown brick coping on the left gable end.
Each cottage has unhorned 16-paned sash windows with slate cills, positioned on either side of a central boarded door. This door is sheltered by a gabled slate porch that has an ogee-pointed arch and ornamental cresting. There is a slate slab-hung integral end stack on the right, a ridge stack at the center, and the stack on the left has been removed. A 20th-century rooflight is located directly below the ridge to the left of the ridge stack. The right gable end has a small 9-paned sash window, while the left gable end features a 20th-century window, both providing light to the lofts. There are small 20th-century extensions at the rear of the cottages.
The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey.
