Description
Hafan Deg and Penrala Cottage are a pair of single-storey cottages located in Tregarth, Llandygai, designed in a mild Picturesque style and forming a basic T-plan. They are constructed from roughly coursed rubblestone, featuring quoins and reddish brown brick window dressings. The cottages have a hipped slate roof with a pedimented gable that projects at the center. Each cottage includes two 2-light 16-paned windows with slate cills on the main range, and doorways are positioned on the returns of the central gable, which has a string course at eaves level and two small square windows below, one for each cottage. The windows of the left cottage, Hafan Deg, are side-hung casements, possibly made from horizontal sliding sashes, while the right cottage, Penrala Cottage, has 20th-century plastic replacement windows. There is a small gabled porch over the entrance to Penrala Cottage. Each cottage has a rendered axial ridge stack, one on the left and one on the right, and there is a lean-to addition at the rear. The interior was not inspected at the time of the survey.
