Description
These are a pair of single-storey cottages, built in the 18th century in a mild Picturesque style, forming a basic T-plan layout. They are constructed of roughly coursed rubblestone with quoins, and have reddish-brown brick window dressings. The roofs are slate, with a hipped form and a pedimented gable projecting to the centre. Each cottage has two 2-light windows with 16 panes, set within slate cills, to the main range, and doorways to the returns of the central gable. The central gable has a string course at eaves level and two small square windows below, one serving each cottage. The windows in the left-hand cottage (Hafan Deg) are side-hung casements, possibly originally made up from horizontal sliding sashes, while the windows in the right-hand cottage (Penrala Cottage) are 20th century plastic replacements. A small gabled porch covers the entrance to Penrala Cottage. The cottages share rendered axial ridge stacks, one to each, and include a lean-to addition to the rear. The interior was not inspected. The cottages form part of a group of two buildings.
