Description
Nos 1 and 2 Tan-yr-allt Cottages are a pair of symmetrical single-storey cottages located in the Llanllechid Community. Built in the vernacular revival style favored by the Penrhyn Estate, these cottages feature two rooms each with lofts. They are constructed from coursed rubblestone, with voussoirs above slightly cambered windows and doors on the front elevation, while the gable ends are rendered. The cottages have a slate roof that includes two small modern roof lights on both the front and rear.
Each cottage has a central entrance, with the right cottage (No. 1) featuring a 20th-century panelled door and the left cottage (No. 2) having a boarded door. The windows are arranged with two and three lights, respectively, and have slate cills. Both cottages have integral end stacks and a shared ridge stack at the center, all rendered and topped with stepped capping. There is a 20th-century flat-roofed extension at the back, which extends beyond the gable end of each cottage.
The cottages maintain their original layout of two heated rooms on the ground floor. They also have full lofts, although this may represent a modification of the original design.
