Description
Tan-y-lon is a symmetrical single-storey pair of two-room cottages with lofts, built in the vernacular revival style typical of the Penrhyn Estate during this period. The cottages are constructed of coursed rubblestone, featuring voussoirs above slightly cambered window and door heads on the front elevation, while the right gable end is rendered. They have a slate roof. Each cottage has a central entrance, with the left cottage (No.2) having a 20th-century half-glazed door, and the right cottage (No.1) featuring a 20th-century six-panel door. The windows are handed, with two-light and three-light 12- and 18-paned designs respectively, and slate cills. Both cottages have integral end stacks and a shared ridge stack at the center, with the original stacks having stepped capping, although the right stack has been rebuilt. There are loft windows in the gable ends, with No.1 having two rooflights on the rear and a single-storey lean-to, while No.2 has a flat-roofed extension at the back. The interior was not inspected at the time of the survey.
