Description

Plas Hwfa is a 2-storey building with an attic, oriented roughly from north-east to south-west. It features a single-storey and attic range at right angles to the rear, creating a basic L-plan. The exterior is made of irregularly coursed rubblestone with a partial boulder plinth and quoins, and it is limewashed on the front. The roofs are slate, with a graded appearance on the front of the main range.

The front facade includes two small horizontal sliding sash windows, each with four panes, located near the eaves. Below these are a small two-light casement window with horizontal glazing bars and a two-light twelve-paned casement window, positioned to the left and right of an offset half-glazed door. All windows have slate cills, and there are integral end stacks with slate drips. An attic window is located on the left gable end.

On the rear wall, there is a raking eaves dormer roughly at the center, with a casement window on the ground floor and another directly above it to the left. The rear range has a substantial integral end stack with slate drips. The north-east wall features an infilled doorway at the center, which has an inserted window in the infill, and a present doorway to the right. The south-west wall includes a small four-paned window to the left, a two-light twelve-paned casement window at the center, and a flat-roofed dormer on the left.

The interior was not accessible during the survey but is reported to have a large timber lintel above a wide fireplace, with a stone winder staircase located to the side in the larger ground-floor room. This room also has an exposed beam and heavy joists.
