Description
The Cottage is a 2-storey building, aligned roughly east-west, with a recessed range on the same alignment set back to the right (east) and extended considerably to the rear. It is constructed of roughly coursed rubblestone, with the recessed range finished in roughcast, and features a slate roof. The main range has a gable on the right side, which includes 2-light windows on each floor; the first-floor window is of reduced proportions, and both windows have slate cills and lintels. The entrance is located immediately to the left of the gable and is flush with it, featuring a 6-panel door set in a round-headed arch with a fanlight above that has square panes. The left gable end has a projecting centre section with a 2-light window on the first floor and a 3-light window on the ground floor. Above the ground floor window is a reset datestone inscribed with "1593/ PG". To the left of the entrance is a tall 19th-century red brick ridge stack with stepped capping, and there is an external lateral stack with a similar shaft on the right return of the gable.
Inside, the building contains a staircase aligned with the entrance, featuring thin columnar newels, a swept rail, and a closed string. A cupboard below the staircase has H-hinges with short straps.
