Description
Port Lodge is a 2- and 3-storey entrance lodge built in a simpler version of the neo-Norman style, similar to Penrhyn Castle. It is constructed from Anglesey limestone ashlar and features a moulded battered plinth, with a roof concealed by a battlemented parapet.
On the left, there is a 3-storey rectangular tower that has a slightly projecting square turret at its left corner. The tower has paired round-headed windows with recessed 2-paned sashes on the ground and first floors, and a splayed slit window above. The turret also has two smaller slit windows. To the immediate right of the tower, there is a steeply pointed archway leading to a paved carriage entrance, which features ribbed double gates and a corbelled projection above. Adjacent to this is a square corner turret. The soffit of the entrance arch is ribbed in two bays, and there is a ribbed door in a pointed doorway on the left wall of the tower.
The rear elevation includes a 2-paned sash window in a splayed opening on each floor of the tower. To the right of the tower, there is a single-storey flat-roofed section, which is concealed by a park wall on the entrance side. This section has a 20th-century half-glazed door to the left and a window on the right. The interior was not inspected at the time of the survey.
