Description

The former locomotive shed is a long rectangular building divided into two sections, with the rear section being lower and slightly recessed. It is constructed from irregularly coursed rubblestone, featuring quoins and reddish brown and yellow brick dressings, topped with slate roofs. The main section has twin round-headed entrances for locomotives at the front gable end, which include a slate-infilled roundel at the apex. The entrances are framed with brick surrounds, reddish brown on the inner ring and yellow on the outer. The long walls are designed with four symmetrical bays that have a plain plinth and piers, creating recessed panels where tall rectangular windows are set (these were sheeted over at the time of the survey). The lower section also has three similar windows in its plain long walls. The interior was not accessible during the survey.
