Description
The building is a locomotive shed, constructed in the 19th century. It is a long, rectangular, high single-storey structure with a lean-to addition on the north gable end. The main part of the building is made of snecked rock-faced rubblestone, featuring slate-stone quoins, while the lean-to has dressed slate-stone slabs. The roof is slate, with a long gabled ventilated louvre at the ridge of the main shed and banded slates on the lean-to.
The long west wall of the shed includes three tall round-headed decorated cast-iron windows, which are similar in pattern to those found in the Quarry Workshops. These windows are adorned with tightly jointed pointed slate voussoirs and slate cills. There is an integral slate-stone stack with a moulded capping on the north side. The south gable end features a pointed doorway designed for locomotives, with dressed slate voussoirs. The lean-to on the north side has a window facing west and a doorway on the north side. The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey.
