Description

Bron Elidir is a two-storey house built in a T-plan layout, dating from the late 20th century. The entrance is on the north-west side, and the building features rendered rubblestone with slate-hung gable ends on the main range, as well as additional slate hanging on the equal-height rear range. The roofs are covered with slate.

The entrance range consists of three bays, with unhorned 16-paned sash windows on both floors. There is a central flat-roofed porch that has an entablature and a half-glazed outer door. The steep-pitched gables over the outer bays have slate coping and cusped bargeboards topped with pointed finials. Both ends of the house have integral stacks that are slate hung and feature stepped capping. The rear range has a similar end stack and two 16-paned sash windows on the first floor, with an entrance located to the lower right at the angle with the main range. A large conservatory, built in the late 20th century, is attached to the right end of the main range.

Surrounding the property is a boundary wall constructed from dressed tightly jointed slate slabs, which is skillfully executed. The wall features slab-on-edge coping that forms a crenellated parapet. There is a slight projection in a set-back section of the wall opposite a flight of steps leading to the quarry, which includes a round-headed arch with pointed voussoirs, an entablature, and a recessed nail-studded boarded door. The steps to the quarry are wide and made of slate slabs, with curving retaining walls also constructed from slate slabs.

The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey.
