Description

The Former Vicarage is a two-storey house built from snecked rubble and topped with a slate roof that features slightly oversailing eaves. The main block of the building is symmetrical and consists of three bays. It has a central entrance that includes a contemporary six-panel door, with the upper four panels fitted with modern glazing, and a four-pane rectangular fanlight above. In front of the entrance is a single-storey stone porch, which has a plain chamfered opening and decorative iron gates. The building also features a slate-coped parapet and a string-course, along with a panelled ceiling and a flat roof.

The windows on the primary block are recessed 16-pane un-horned sash windows that have returned slate labels. An added two-bay section is flush with the main block and contains 12-pane recessed and horned sashes with slate cills. There are end chimneys with weather-coursing and cornices on the primary block, as well as an additional brick chimney on the right gable end, which has been extended. The right gable also features further windows similar to those on the primary block, along with a recessed modern door. The rear of the house is slate-hung and set against a steep spoil slope, with additional 12-pane windows and a modern part-glazed entrance.

The interior was not inspected during the survey in June 1995, but it is known that panelled doors and shutters are still present.
