Description
Gelli Farmhouse is a 2-storey house with an attic and basement, constructed of rubble stone with larger quoins, and features a slate-hung entrance front. The slate roof has bracketed eaves and includes a pair of stacks in each gable end, which are roughcast, except for the larger kitchen stack on the left, made of rubble stone. The entrance front has three windows and a half-glazed lean-to porch with fish-scale slates and double half-lit panelled doors. This porch is flanked by shallow canted bay windows that contain 4-pane sashes. The upper storey features 12-pane hornless sashes, while both gable ends have 12-pane horned sash windows in the attic, set under cambered stone heads. The left gable end has a replaced cellar door on the right, and the right gable end has a corresponding camber-headed 12-pane hornless sash window. There is a replaced window on the lower storey to the right, next to a wall that connects to the outbuildings.
The rear of the house has four windows under cambered stone heads. The upper storey contains 12-pane hornless sashes, while the lower storey features a replaced door to the left of centre, above which is a stone tablet displaying the name and date in raised letters and numerals. To the left and right of the doorway are 12-pane horned sash windows, with the right-hand window, which lights the kitchen, being larger. Outbuildings are attached to the right-hand end of the house.
The house has a double-depth plan with a central passage. The principal rooms are located at the front, with service rooms behind. Inside the porch, the front door has been replaced but retains its original round-headed overlight with Gothic glazing. The front end of the house includes a stair hall and a dog-leg stair with plain balusters and a turned newel. A half-lit door leads to the service end of the house, where there is a straight stair with plain balusters.
