Description
The Former Weigh House at Boston Lodge Railway Works is a mid-19th century building constructed from local slatey rubble, featuring quoins. It has a slate roof with a stone chimney stack on the south side and wide eaves that are bracketed to the asymmetrical gable end. The eaves line on the west side slopes down towards the south, accentuated by the non-parallel walls. The gable end includes a boarded door next to a narrow sash window, which has a glazing bar on the upper sash and an overall stone lintel. The west side features a 3-light, small-pane timber window, with openings below for the counter-balance rods used in weighing wagons on the line. There is also one small-pane sash window on the east side. At the south end, the building is attached to a locomotive shed.
