Former Iron Foundry and Smithy at Boston Lodge

The former iron foundry and smithy at Boston Lodge is a building constructed from local slatey rubble, topped with a corrugated iron roof featuring wide eaves that are bracketed to the gable end. The iron foundry consists of four bays and includes voussoir-arched openings, three of which have been filled in at the base and fitted with small-pane windows, while the left-hand opening still has a boarded door. Adjacent to the left is a five-bay smithy, which has a slate roof and similar round-arched openings. In this structure, alternate openings remain as split boarded doors, while the others have been converted into windows, similar to the foundry. There is a railway track at the front with turntables at either end.

Inside the iron foundry, deep brackets on one wall indicate where the cupola hood was positioned. At the rear, there are lateral chimneys and segmental arches leading into deep lean-to chambers.
