Description

18th century smithy with 2 later smithy houses with later alterations in prominent continuous row, at bend in road. Rubble with squared stone dressings and harl pointing, cement repairs to openings of smithy houses.

SMITHY: in poor condition. Single storey, 3-bay smithy with door to centre flanked by windows. Windows and door to rear. Steeply pitched gables.

INTERIOR: forge to outer gable with working hearth in place.

Plate glass glazing in sash and case windows. Boarded door. Brick coped skews and brick stack. Red pantiles with 3 sections of clear glazing tiles.

SMITHY HOUSES: set back slightly from smithy. 2-storey with 1st floor breaking eaves, 4-bay. Fanlit, boarded doors with relieving arches over in bays to centre with windows to outer bays and gabled dormerheads breaking eaves above outer bays and between those to centre, outer dormerheads with stone coping. Blank return gable. Openings to rear.

12-pane and 4-pane sash and case windows. Stone coping to skews and harled stacks. Grey slates.
