Description
Boston Lodge is a prominent three-storey stone building, originally constructed as a barrack to house some of the workforce involved in building the Cob. It is the oldest structure at Boston Lodge, with a comparable barracks located on the Porthmadoc side. The building features painted rendered elevations and a boulder plinth, topped by a hipped slate roof with wide eaves and cement rendered chimney stacks at both ends and in the centre. The west front has a symmetrical arrangement of three windows on each side, fitted with modern cross-frame, small-pane windows that have drip-edges at sill level. The rear of the building has an irregular window arrangement, and there are entrances accessed by steps at either end.
