Description
Lower Govera Cottage is a two-storey, L-shaped building that dates back to an unspecified period. It has a rendered and painted exterior, likely over rubble stone, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The main front features three windows, with an additional window around the corner of the L shape, creating a symmetrical façade with a central entrance. The entrance consists of a plank door that is sheltered by a slated hood supported on brackets. The windows are 19th-century small-paned casements, arranged in a six-over-six pattern, with one original smaller-paned casement still visible to the right of the door. The roof is plain and hipped at the left end, featuring a red brick stack at the right ridge end and a rendered stack on the rear wing.
On the subsidiary elevation, there is one similar window on each floor, although they are not aligned. To the left, there is a double plank door. The house has a single depth plan that includes a kitchen outshut at a lower level. While many original features have been obscured by modern decoration and alterations, the overall planning of the house remains unchanged. The roof structure consists of principal rafters with staggered purlins.
