Description
Wern Farmhouse is a two-storey building constructed from whitewashed rubble stone and topped with Welsh slate roofs. It features a single depth range with nearly a full outshut at the rear and a small single-storey extension to the right. The front has four windows, all early to mid-19th century small-paned casements. The ground floor windows are three-light with segmental heads, while the upper floor windows are two-light with flat heads. The second bay from the left on the ground floor includes a gabled porch positioned against the central stack. The roof is plain and has three ridge chimneys located at either end and behind the doorway.
On the rear elevation, there is an outshut that contains three two-light casements and one three-light window. A plain door is situated immediately to the left of the central stack.
The interior was not available for inspection during the resurvey in December 1996, but it is clear from the exterior that this is a three-cell house with a baffle entry and three heated rooms.
