Description
The barn at Ty-poeth Farm is a Grade II listed building made of painted rubble stone with red brick dressings and Welsh slate roofs, some of which have been replaced. It features a large T-shaped layout, with the cross piece extending east to west and the foot projecting to the north. The cross piece consists of two sections, with the western end serving as the threshing barn. This area has opposing doors beneath shallow segmental arches, with diamond brick vents on the north side and large arched red brick vents on the south side. The roof is hipped at the west end where it connects to the farmhouse, which is not included in the listing.
To the east of the threshing barn is a two-storey building topped with its own hipped roof. Each side of this building has tall arched recesses outlined in red brick, some of which contain segmental headed windows on both floors. The foot of the T is a cowhouse, which includes a through entry with wooden doors under segmental arches, located just behind where the foot connects to the cross piece. There are several openings on the east side of the cowhouse, but only a small taking-in door on the west side. The interior was not available for inspection during the resurvey in December 1996.
