Description
Pen-y-bryn is a farmhouse with a long rectangular shape, built in two storeys and oriented roughly east-west. The oldest part of the building is the three-bay section at the western end. It features roughcast rubblestone walls and a slate roof with brick coping at the gable ends, which separates the original structure from its western extension.
The front of the farmhouse has a symmetrical three-bay arrangement towards the western end, consisting of three 4-paned sash windows with slate cills on the first floor and two on the ground floor. These flank a central gabled porch made of painted slate, which has a segmental outer arch and an inner panelled door. There is a brownish brick ridge stack at the junction with the western extension, which also has an integral brick stack at the gable end. To the far left of the original section, there is another similar ridge stack, with a 2-light 8-paned casement window immediately to the left on the first floor, situated above a boarded door. The eastern extension features a wide segmental-headed cart opening.
The interior was not accessible during the survey.
