Description
Ty-hen is a 2-storey farmhouse with a main range that has two rooms and a central staircase, aligned roughly north-south. It faces two-storey ranges to the east, with the southern range being longer and projecting at right angles, and a lower gabled range located behind the northern range. The building is constructed of roughly coursed rubblestone, which is mainly limewashed, although the front elevation is cement rendered. The roofs are covered with graded slate, with the front roof slope being turnerised.
The front has three windows, featuring 9-paned horned sash windows on the first floor and 12-paned sash windows on the ground floor. There is a central 4-panel door with a narrow rectangular overlight, situated under a gabled timber porch. Both end stacks are integral and cement rendered. The rear ranges also have integral end stacks, and the northern range includes a single-storey lean-to attached to its north wall, which forms part of the rubblestone boundary wall to the track. The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey.
