Description
Tafarn Hen, also known as The Old Tavern, is a 2-storey inn with a gable-lit attic, featuring a 3-bay main building. Attached to each gable end are single-storey ranges with hip roofs, and there is a single-storey range of outbuildings at the rear that forms a basic L-plan. The exterior is finished in roughcast rubblestone, with the stone exposed on the outbuildings. The roof is slate and includes integral end stacks.
The front of the main building has three windows, each fitted with 16-paned sash windows that have slate cills. There is a central 20th-century gabled porch that leads to a 6-panel door, which is topped by a rectangular overlight with intersecting glazing bars. The single-storey ranges feature 9-paned sash windows. The outbuilding has 20th-century windows facing the roadside and an integral end stack. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
