Overfield

Overfield is an early 19th-century villa that has undergone alterations in 1969 and 2003. It is a two-storey, three-bay building designed in a classical style, featuring a piended roof and two single outshoots at the rear, creating a U-shaped plan. The villa is situated in an open area, overlooking sloping ground to the east. The exterior is rendered and has droved painted stone quoins, base, and eaves courses. The central entrance doorpiece has a plain cornice, and the windows on the main elevation have projecting cills. The entrance features a four-panel door with a horizontal pen light above, and the roof is covered with graded slate. There is a small flat-roofed infill at the rear that dates from the mid-20th century. The original timber sash and case windows have had their astragals removed.

The interior was last seen in 2014 and has been altered internally since 1969. However, some original features remain, including eight-panelled shutters, six-panel doors, moulded architraves, and a curved stone staircase with low risers, plain metal bannisters, and timber handrails. There is also a half-height window at the rear. The original first-floor drawing room has been divided into smaller spaces, but a decorative arched niche recess still exists within a bathroom.
