Description
This building, located at 7 The Ward in Strathaven, dates from around 1870 and is a single-storey, five-bay beaming shop. The façade features a door on the left side, which is flanked by two blocked window openings. To the right, there is another door with an inscribed lintel, along with an additional blocked window opening on the far right. The exterior is constructed of squared and snecked yellow sandstone rubble, with raised cills and droved margins. The rear of the building is roughcast and includes two doors at the center, with blocked window openings on the left and right sides.
The roof has been re-covered with asbestos cement tiles designed to mimic the original slates, and there are corniced ashlar stacks at each end. The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 2003.
