Glengair, 23 Commercial Road, Strathaven

Glengair is a single-storey, asymmetrical Egyptian-Greek villa located at 23 Commercial Road in Strathaven, designed by architect Robert Thomson around 1880-1890, in the style of Alexander Thomson. The building features painted masonry with a door in a recessed bay to the left, accompanied by three similarly proportioned windows behind a pilastrade. To the right, there is an advanced gabled bay that contains three lights, adorned with Graeco-Egyptian detailed outer pilasters and inner engaged columns, along with a circular ventilator in the gable. The villa has projecting eaves and a stack to the right with a single original chimney pot, topped with a slate roof.

Inside, the space has been altered, and the chimney pieces have been removed, but there remains a wooden panelled ceiling in the front room to the east.
