Description

Dolgwm Stores is a 2-storey, 3-bay shop built with snecked dressed stone on the front and a hipped slate roof featuring projecting plastered eaves. The lower storey has elliptical stone arches, although in the left-hand bay, these are concealed behind a late 19th-century bay window. The central bay contains replaced half-lit boarded doors, while the right-hand bay features a late 19th-century 2 over single-pane sash window with a marble sill, replacing an original doorway. The upper storey is adorned with 12-pane hornless sash windows set beneath flat stone arches.

The side and rear walls are constructed of rubble stone, accented with darker grey quoins. On the left side wall, there is a mid-20th-century 2-storey brick lean-to addition. The right side wall includes an inserted boarded door with an overlight on the left and a blocked window on the right, which was formerly a cobbler's shop, both framed with blue-brick dressings. The rear of the building has a central blocked doorway beneath a segmental head.

Inside, the lower storey has had its partitions removed. The first floor is supported by two spine beams with wooden columns, and some slate flagstones remain. The arches on the ground floor still show iron pintles, indicating the presence of original iron gates.
