Description

129-135 Quarry Street is a late 19th-century, three-storey and attic tenement building featuring a symmetrical seven-bay design with shops on the ground floor. The exterior is constructed of ashlar stone and topped with a slate mansard roof, as well as truncated pyramidal roofs covered in fishscale slates, though the decorative brattishing has been removed. The ground floor has modern shopfronts, while the first and second floors showcase a moulded cill course, a string course above the first-floor lintel, and a moulded wallhead course with a half-moon corbelled cornice. The building has a coped parapet with ball-finialled dies, which is interrupted by three architraved round-headed dormers adorned with volutes and ball finials. The windows are architraved single and bipartite sash and case types with timber frames, although the attic features modern frames that are out of character. The three central bays are slightly advanced and contain three windows each on the first and second floors. The slightly recessed single bays on the left and right also have windows on both floors, while the slightly advanced outer bays feature bipartite windows on the first and second floors. There are two dormers located behind the parapet, and a corniced stack, with other stacks having been rebuilt in a plain style. The interior has not been seen.
