18, 20, 22 Whitehall Crescent, Dundee

18, 20, 22 Whitehall Crescent is a five-storey and attic tenement and commercial building, dated 1899. It features shopfronts on the ground floor arranged in two identical five-bay blocks on a slightly convex plan. The building is constructed of sandstone ashlar, with channeling up to the first floor and a grey slate Mansard roof. The ground floor has a cornice, with a cill band on the first, second, and third floors, and a lintel band on the first and second floors. Above the third floor, there is a consoled and corbelled principal cornice, a corniced wallhead course, and a blocking course at the fourth floor. A pilaster strip is located at the left angle, and the doorcases are pilastered with decoratively sculpted date panels above the lintels. The windows include single round-headed windows on the first floor, architraved windows with triangular and segmental pediments on the second floor, architraved windows on the third floor, and lugged architraves on the fourth floor. The outer bays on the second to fourth floors feature three-light canted windows, and there are three-light box dormers with two-pane timber sash and case glazing. The corniced ridge stacks have mostly uniform cream cans.

The front elevation shows the block on the left with a door at the center flanked by altered shopfronts, seven windows on the first floor, and three windows on the second to fourth floors flanked by canted windows, along with two dormers. The block on the right is similar in design.
