Description

172, 174, 176 Quarry Street in Hamilton is a three-storey, symmetrical, four-bay tenement built in the Glasgow style around 1904 by Alexander Cullen. The building features a cream ashlar façade and a slate roof. The ground floor includes shops with a partially corbelled cornice, a wallhead course, and corniced stacks topped with uniform terracotta cans.

The tenement has single and three-light canted windows, with original sash and case windows in two bays on the right, featuring plate glass on the bottom and four and six-pane windows on the top. The central ground floor has a round-headed close door with a fanlight and a consoled segmental canopy. The original shopfronts on the left and right have been slightly altered. An outshot stack rises from a mannered corbel at the centre of the first floor, flanked by windows on both the first and second floors, with a pediment above the first-floor window. The canted windows on the left and right are topped with coped and crenellated parapets. The interior has not been seen.
