1, 3, 5 Gateside Street, Hamilton

This building, located at 13, 15, and 17 Gateside Street in Hamilton, is a later 19th-century tenement block that stands three stories tall on a corner site, featuring shops on the ground floor. It is constructed of grey ashlar with a channelled finish at the ground floor along Avon Street, and it has a slate platform roof. The ground floor is corniced, and there is a moulded cill course at the second floor, along with a moulded wallhead course. The windows include single, bipartite, and canted designs, all with corniced cills at the second floor. The glazing was originally plate glass and 4-pane sash and case, though some modern frames that are out of character have been added to the second floor. The building also features corniced ridge stacks.

On the Gateside Street elevation, there are modern shopfronts at the ground floor, with a single window at the center of the first and second floors, a bipartite window to the left, and a canted window to the right, which has a facetted roof and a decorative cast-iron finial.

The Avon Street elevation includes two doors at the ground floor, with three former openings that have been blocked and channelled. There is a canted window at the center right on the first and second floors, similar to the single window and bipartite window on the Gateside Street elevation, with a bipartite window to the right.
