Description
The former Post Office and Emahroo in Lamington is a mid-19th century, two-storey building with a first floor that breaks the eaves. It features a four-bay, L-plan design with a symmetrical street elevation. The building has timber-bracketed overhanging eaves and prominent ball and conical finials at the apexes. Constructed from blonde sandstone, it includes droved sandstone quoins and painted pentice canopies. The upper windows are adorned with shaped hoodmoulds. There is a glazed and slated entrance porch on the southeast side, along with a long single-storey extension added in the later 20th century, which is rendered.
The building retains a single original 8-pane, lying-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows on the upper right, while the other windows are a mixture of plain and multi-pane designs, also in timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are short, shouldered ridge stacks.
