Description
This building, known as the Laundry Cottage, dates back to 1856 and is a single-storey, five-bay cottage designed in an estate style. It features three prominent gables adorned with timber bargeboards and cross-bracing, along with a distinctive lying-pane glazing pattern. The windows are covered by pentice canopies supported by console brackets. The exterior is constructed from coursed whinstone rubble, complemented by droved sandstone quoins and window margins. There is a later 20th-century flat and pitched roof extension on the side, as well as a porch added to the rear.
The cottage has heavy timber framing with timber mullions and a lying-pane glazing pattern that includes horizontal top lights. The eaves are overhanging and bracketed with timber, and the roof is covered in graded grey slates. The rainwater goods are made of plastic.
The boundary walls consist of a low wall facing the street, featuring brick piers that are infilled with semi-circular clay tiles and capped with angled terracotta ridges.
