Description
Townfoot Cottage is a mid-19th century, single-storey, four-bay cottage designed in an estate style, featuring a T-plan layout. It has an advanced stone gabled bay on the penultimate right side, with timber-bracketed overhanging eaves at the gables, cross bracing, and delicate timber finials at the apexes. The building is constructed of whinstone rubble with dressed sandstone quoins, and it has painted pentice canopies and painted cills. At the rear, there is a timber boarded porch located at the re-entrant angle. Additionally, there is a small flat roof infill addition at the southeast corner.
The cottage features 8-pane, lying-pane glazing patterns in its timber sash and case windows, along with plain boarded doors. The roof is covered with grey slates, and it has shouldered diamond-plan shafted ridge and gable stacks.
