Description
Redford is a mid-19th century single-storey, three-bay cottage designed in an L-plan with classical detailing and deeply overhanging eaves. The building is constructed from dark whinstone rubble, accented with contrasting droved sandstone ashlar dressings, and features a base course. It has a corniced porch with a stepped blocking course and small pointed-arch niches in the gableheads, which are adorned with hoodmoulds and chamfered arrises.
On the south elevation, there is an advanced gable to the left of center, featuring a hoodmoulded window below a niche. The porch includes a part-glazed door and a narrow window on the return to the right, with an additional window to the outer right. The east elevation has a slightly advanced gable similar to the south, with two windows to the right.
The north elevation features a window in the advanced gable to the left, with a door and a two-part fanlight on the return to the right, and a window in the center, along with a lower outbuilding projecting from the gabled bay to the right. The west elevation has two windows.
The cottage is fitted with timber sash and case windows, featuring 4- and 12-pane glazing patterns. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are diamond-aligned, cavetto-corniced ashlar stacks with polygonal cans. The deeply overhanging eaves are complemented by a plain bargeboard.
Surrounding the property are high coped rubble boundary walls.
