Brookside, Lamington

Brookside in Lamington is an earlier 19th-century cottage ornée style building. It is a single-storey structure with an attic and a rectangular plan featuring four bays. The entrance bay, located to the right, has a low-pitched gable and is adorned with a decorative timber and glazed porch. This porch is flanked by rectangular windows and a blanked twin-arched window with a hoodmould at the apex. The roof has timber barge-boarded gablets and scalloped timber detailing on both the porch and window gablets. The entrance bay windows have margined stone surrounds and pitched hoodmoulds, with metal-framed diamond pane glazing. The building is constructed from whinstone rubble with sandstone quoins and window margins, while the gabled offshots at the rear are finished in painted render. There is a small later 20th-century rendered building with a slate roof located in the rear garden.

The windows predominantly feature a 12-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case style. The entrance door is a bifold panelled timber design with pointed glazing and dentilled detail above. The eaves are overhanging and supported by timber brackets, and the roof is covered with grey slate. There are shafted and single diamond ridge stacks, along with a large rendered ridge stack topped with plain clay cans.
