5 Union Road, Linlithgow

5 Union Road in Linlithgow is a cottage built in the later 19th century. It is a single-storey, three-bay structure made of cream sandstone rubble, which is painted on the south elevation. The building features chamfered reveals, overhanging eaves, and decorative bargeboards.

On the south entrance elevation, there is a round-headed door with a gabled timber bracketed canopy porch, a fanlit panelled door, and bipartite windows on either side. The roof has two gabled and finialled timber bipartite dormers that include round-headed lights and fleuron detail at the jettied apex, along with a rooflight in the centre.

The east and west side elevations are gabled, with an attic window on the left and storage sheds on the ground level of the west elevation. There is also a single-storey garage to the west.

The windows are plate glass sash and case, and the roof is covered with grey slate featuring fishscale bands. The sandstone coped stacks at the gables have original moulded cans.

The boundary wall is made of cream sandstone rubble with ashlar coping and plain rendered piers.
