Description
Beech Cottage in Lamington is a mid-19th century single-storey building featuring a symmetrical rectangular plan with eight bays. It consists of paired cottages in an estate style, highlighted by a slightly advanced central stone gabled entrance bay that has a finial and a slit ventilator at the apex. The cottage is situated next to Nilghiri to the north and has Beech Cottage to the south.
There is a later open porch and 20th century extensions added to the rear outer bays, creating a U-shape. The exterior is constructed from whinstone rubble with sandstone quoins, and it features bracketed pentice canopies above the windows with painted cills. The principal elevation showcases 12-pane lying glazing patterns in sash and case windows, while the rear has later 20th century glazing patterns. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are plain rendered ridge stacks.
