Description

Dated 1904. Single storey, rectangular-plan post office with Baronial details. Squared and snecked sandstone with ashlar margins and dressings. Brick side elevations. Base course; eaves frieze cornice, balustraded parapet.

MAIN ELEVATION: 4 bays near-symmetrically disposed. 2-bay centrepiece slightly advanced, door to left with moulded surround, modern 2-leaf boarded door; oval light in plaque over door, now blocked; "Post Office" inscribed in parapet above. Pedimented tripartite window to right, column mullions, segmental pediment breaking over centre window, plaque with ER inscribed; triangular pediment breaking eaves above, brackets inscribed AD to left, 1904 to right. Flanking bipartites; metal posting boxes inserted under window to right.

uPVC windows. Grey slate roof, lead flashings. Red sandstone, coped apex stacks, circular cans.

GATEPIERS AND BOUNDARY WALL: channelled ashlar, square piers with flat coping; low boundary wall with slab coping.
