252 Main Street, Alexandria

This late 19th-century villa at 252 Main Street, Alexandria, is a two-storey, three-bay building with a rectangular plan. It features stugged squared and snecked sandstone with ashlar margins and dressings, a base course, and a band course. The eaves are advanced with exposed rafters, and there are ashlar transoms.

On the main elevation, there is a door at the center with a tripartite bas-relief sculpture above it. The entrance includes a two-leaf panelled storm door and an inner half-glazed door, with a small window directly under the eaves above. To the outer right, a narrow gabled bay is advanced, featuring tripartite windows with additional windows on the returns. On the outer left at ground level, there is a square projecting window, a blocking course, a tripartite window, and a narrow window on the returns. At the first floor, there is a bipartite window with an ashlar mullion and transom.

The villa has plate glass timber sash and case windows, with leaded stained glass upper lights. The roof is covered with grey slate and has lead flashings, along with ashlar corniced ridge stacks.

The property is enclosed by a low rubble boundary wall topped with ashlar saddleback coping and modern railings.
