Description
The building is a manse located on Overton Road in Alexandria, dated 1915. It is a two-storey, four-bay villa with an asymmetrical rectangular plan and features Baronial details. The exterior is constructed from stugged, squared, and snecked red sandstone, with ashlar margins and dressings, and includes a base course and a crowstepped gable.
On the north (main) elevation, there is an engaged octagonal tower entrance bay positioned towards the left. This features steps leading to a narrow door with roll-moulded arrises and a slightly advanced surround. Above the door is an armorial plaque framed by egg and dart moulding and cherub heads, with a central plaque depicting a burning bush and a Presbyterian motto. The entrance has a two-leaf studded and hinged door, with an inner half-glazed door. To the left of the entrance, there is a small basket-arched window with a roll-moulded arris and a leaded window. Above this window is another window with a Jacobean pediment. The outer left side has a blank bay, and there is a broad wallhead stack immediately to the left of the entrance. To the right of the entrance tower, there is a bay that clasps the tower, with a chamfered recess immediately to the right featuring arch squinch detail supported by an owl corbel. There are two small windows at the upper stage and a broad window at the ground floor. A bowed stair bay is located at the outer right, with a small window at the ground level and a taller window at the landing stage. A modern single-storey addition is attached to the outer right.
The east (side) elevation features a gable at the outer right and a canted window with a blocking course off-centre to the left at ground level. There is a window at the centre of the first floor, topped with a triangular pediment. A full-height canted window clasps the corner at the outer left, with a blocking cornice above.
The building has uPVC windows and a grey pitched roof that extends continuously over the stair tower. The entrance tower has a conical slate roof, and the cast-iron rainwater goods are dated 1915.
The boundary wall consists of a low rubble wall with circular red sandstone ashlar gatepiers, which are corniced and topped with conical caps on ball feet.
