Description
Alexandria House is a villa built in the later 19th century, featuring two storeys and a rectangular plan with three bays. The exterior is constructed from stugged, squared, and snecked red sandstone, complemented by contrasting grey ashlar dressings and quoins. It has a base course and advanced bracketed eaves.
On the main elevation, there is an ashlar doorpiece with a consoled blind balcony above. The entrance includes a round-headed door and a half-glazed round-headed window on the first floor. The design is symmetrical, with flanking bays that feature full-height ashlar windows that are slightly advanced. The ground floor has tripartite basket-arched windows, while the first floor has round-arched windows, with a piend roof that breaks the eaves above and a finial. There is also a narrow ashlar bay on the outer right.
The side elevation consists of three bays with three windows symmetrically arranged on the first floor. There is a squared window projection at the ground outer left and a window to the outer right at ground level.
The windows are plate glass timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring a piend and platformed design, along with lead flashings. There is a corniced ashlar wallhead stack with square tapered cans, and a rendered stack to the left.
