Description
18-20 Hope Street in Ayr is an early 19th-century, three-storey, two-bay tenement featuring a shop on the ground floor. The building is constructed of painted ashlar and includes a cill course on the second floor, an eaves course, and a cornice. The upper floor windows have moulded painted margins.
On the entrance elevation, pilasters frame a glazed timber entrance door on the outer left and a timber boarded door for a close entrance on the outer right, with a modern shopfront window positioned between them. The first and second floors have regular fenestration.
The upper floors are fitted with two-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and features a coped brick stack and circular cans.
The interior was not seen in 1998.
