Description
156-158 High Street in Irvine is an early 19th-century, two-storey, two-bay tenement building that features a shop on the ground floor. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar with raised margins, and it has a cornice and blocking course. The tenement door is located to the right on the ground floor, with a modern shop window that is canted in towards the centre and left. On the first floor, there are two regularly placed windows, and above them are canted dormers with slate hanging and piend roofs.
The windows are timber sash and case style, featuring small-pane and plate glass sashes, while the dormers have metal glazing. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are tall stacks on the mutual gables.
