3 Newmarket Street, Ayr

3 Newmarket Street in Ayr is an early 19th-century, three-storey, four-bay corner building featuring a modern shopfront on the ground floor. The exterior is finished in painted render and includes a cornice on the shopfront fascia, an eaves course, and a cornice at the top. The left side has painted strip quoin detailing, and the window openings have painted margins.

On the northwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, there are four bays. To the left, there is a recessed entrance to the shop with a modern two-leaf glazed door and a letterbox fanlight above. Flanking the entrance are single shop windows, with an additional window to the right. To the outer right, there is a two-leaf timber door, also with a letterbox fanlight above. The first and second floors have regular fenestration.

The northeast elevation, facing Hope Street, has three bays. It features a modern shopfront on the ground floor, while the first and second floors have regular fenestration, with blind bays in the center and to the right.

The upper floors are fitted with plate glass timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes a coped gablehead stack on the left and circular cans. The interior was not seen in 1998.
