Blair Lodge, 38 Racecourse Road, Ayr

Blair Lodge, located at 38 Racecourse Road in Ayr, is an earlier 19th-century detached villa that has undergone some alterations. The building is two stories tall and features three bays. The entrance elevation is made of painted sandstone, while the sides are harled. It has a base course, a central dividing band course, an eaves course, a cornice, a blocking course, and pilastered quoins. The windows have aprons beneath them.

The southeast entrance elevation includes a central fluted Greek Doric entrance porch with a mutuled cornice and a blocking course. The entrance has a timber door and three circular panels in the letterbox fanlight above it, with a single window directly aligned above on the first floor. To the right, there are single windows on both the ground and first floors. On the left side, there is a canted bay window at the ground floor, which is likely a later addition, with a single window aligned above on the first floor.

The northeast elevation features a single-storey wing that advances to the right on the ground floor, with a window flanking to the left and an off-centre window to the right on the first floor.

The northwest and southwest elevations were not visible in 1999. The villa has plate glass timber sash and case windows, a slate roof with wallhead corniced stacks and polygonal cans, and cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen in 1999. The property also includes square-plan gatepiers on the outer right with lamps on top, and a low coped boundary wall that encloses the site.
