Description

Circa 1795. 2-storey and basement, 3-bay classical rectangular-plan house with single storey wing forming L-plan to SE (wallhead to forecourt raised as plain parapet). Harl; ashlar dressings. Eaves course; cornice; blocking course; strip margins; margins to window openings.

SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: slightly advanced central bay; steps to Doric columned doorpiece; timber door; decorative letterbox fanlight; single window aligned above at 1st floor; flanking single windows at ground and 1st floor to recessed outer bays. Single window to single storey cottage wing to left; single window to return to left.

SW (SIDE) ELEVATION: 3 single windows and timber door to single storey cottage wing; timber glazed opening and single window above to gable to left.

NW (REAR) ELEVATION: 3 single windows to wing to outer right; 2 windows at basement to left and centre of main house; 5 windows at ground floor; 2 windows to outer right and left at 1st floor.

NE (SIDE) ELEVATION: small window opening and timber door to gablehead elevation.

12-pane timber sash and case windows. Slate piend roof; gablehead stack to single storey wing, end stacks to main house; polygonal cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen 1999.

WALLED GARDEN AND SUNDIAL: walled garden to SE of site; includes sundial on stepped, square-plan plinth; square-plan gatepiers; iron gate and stretch of garden wall with iron railings atop.

GATEPIERS, GATES, RAILINGS AND BOUNDARY WALL: square-plan gatepiers to vehicular entrance; timber door to pedestrian entrance; boundary wall encloses site. (See also walled garden section above). Wheat panel set within screen wall to right of house.
